Support your festival Sat.

Wow! I just realized yesterday that this year’s Rockin’ Railroad Festival presented by the Hazlehurst Area Chamber of Commerce is the tenth one. My, how time has flown since we held the first one in 2009. . .
Thankfully, the festival has had great community support over the past 9 years.  The city, no matter who has been mayor, has always stepped up.  Many local businesses have also been supporters through sponsorships, which mostly underwrite the festival’s finances.
City Street Department workers, led by department head Robert Catchings, have worked tirelessly to maintain the downtown area, including Byron Hidalgo Park and Pavilion, where the festival is held each year.  Much of it goes unnoticed to those who rarely come downtown, but to the ones of us who work in the area, we see the constant, gradual caretaking.  And, this weekend everyone will notice the caboose, which has been beautified with a fresh coat of paint and lettering, all courtesy of Carey Stewart of Stewart’s Body Shop.  All of Hazlehurst is grateful for the efforts of these folks.
Come Saturday and support your town’s festival.  Your presence means more than you know and shows your appreciation for all the hard work done by those involved.  I promise, you will have a good time!
