No other passengers in vehicle


 
A young man is dead after his vehicle crashed on Gallatin Road about 2 miles west of Hazlehurst on Friday morning.

Law enforcement authorities verified that Paul Short, age 18, of Hazlehurst, was killed when the Chevrolet Suburban he was driving west towards Highway 28 veered left into an embankment then struck a tree.  Rescue personnel were called to the scene and used the Jaws of Life to pry open the driver's side door so they could reach the victim.  Coroner Ellis Stuart pronounced Short dead shortly after 9:15 a.m.

No other passengers were in the vehicle.  Investigators from Mississippi Highway Patrol were still working on reconstructing the crash scene late today.

Its a sad day for this child's family he's too young to be gone so soon and tragedly. My prayers go out to them.

Paul was such a gud person. I been knowin him forever and a day. He was jus so annoyin always tryin tuha dance against me. Even doe he always won lol. I will truely miss you paul

We do not know when we will leave this earth. I know the worst feeling is to loose a child. But God know what we dont...we can only ask for strenght and understanding...With much love Paul, may you as well as my daughter, Aamia Washington..Rest In Peace.....

Paul was such a great person. Always wore a smile no matter what. This is such a tragic to the Hazlehurst community. Paul you are already missed..
